Benefits of New Over Used

Used cars aren't always the cheaper option. It's a common belief that buying a used car will result in cheaper rates, insurance, and less depreciation. And while that can be true in some cases, depending on the used car you buy, you may end up paying more in the long run.

Keep in mind that used cars are already depreciated and have thousands of miles on the odometer. Because of this, the car may require more expensive maintenance and parts. This can quickly eat up your savings and result in a much more expensive option. Not to mention, things like customization and technology depend on the previous owner's tastes and needs.

New cars, on the other hand, may require a higher upfront cost and insurance, but the pros of buying them outweigh the cons. Buying new gives you complete control over customization and technology, which means you can choose the trim level that's right for you, as well as a modern technology package with advanced features. Buying new also means fewer service visits, so you could save money in the long run. Finally, a new car gives you the peace of mind that you're buying a reliable vehicle with no hidden problems.

Chevy Suburban Overview

With room for up to nine people and plenty of room for your gear, the Chevy Suburban is all about capacity and power. This crowd-friendly SUV is Chevrolet's largest model and, despite its size, the ride and handling are superb. The technology in all trims is designed to keep everyone on board connected, so expect features that assist the driver and engage the passengers. The exterior design features the model's classic look with a few twists, and depending on the trim you choose, you can get an upscale or sporty-looking model. Engine options vary and offer plenty of power.

The new Suburban offers three engine options: a 5.3-liter V-8 that generates 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, a 6.2-liter V-8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, and a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel with 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The first engine option comes standard on all trims except the High Country, while the second comes standard on the High Country trim and is available on the RST and Z71 trims. The third engine option can be added to all trims except the Z71. They're all paired with a 10-speed transmission.

There are six trim levels available:

  • LS.
  • LT.
  • RST.
  • Z71.
  • Premier.
  • High Country.

The LS is the base model and offers standard features like a six-speaker audio system, 18-inch wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and power front seats. The LT trim adds a hands-free liftgate, heated front seats, leather seating for the first and second rows, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The RST upgrades the LT with 22-inch wheels, a blacked-out exterior with a redesigned front fascia, and trim-branded seats.

The Z71 trim is the off-road model and features 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, hill descent control, front skid plate and tow hooks, and a dark chrome exterior. The Premier trim offers a more refined experience and adds power-folding third-row seats, a 10-speaker audio system, blind spot warning, ventilated front seats, and magnetically controlled shock absorbers. The High Country trim is all about luxury, offering a unique grille with bronze accents, a digital rearview mirror, a surround-view camera system, traffic-adaptive cruise control, and a rear entertainment system.

What To Look for During a Test Drive

Test driving a vehicle is the most important step in determining if it is right for you. If you're considering a Chevrolet Suburban, here's what you should do. First, decide if you're trading in your current vehicle and schedule a test drive. Second, pay attention to the way the SUV feels and notice if you have any difficulty entering the vehicle. Third, adjust the seat and mirrors and go for a drive. Don't forget to familiarize yourself with the dashboard and notice how it feels.

Also, try to drive the SUV on different roads to see how it performs in different conditions. In essence, a test drive is the best way to know if a vehicle is good for you, so never skip it. Once you're in the vehicle, you really want to make sure it meets your expectations, so if you have other requirements such as electronic amenities, cabin noise, and braking, pay close attention to these aspects and write down your impressions.
